Welcome to the I-FOCUS Study
In social situations, being overly focused on yourself can lead to increased feelings of anxiety, self-consciousness, and difficulties interacting with others.
I-FOCUS is a research study at the University of Washington that aims to understand self-focused attention as a potential warning sign of treatment non-response. We are offering short-term treatment and brain scans at no cost.

For individuals between 18 to 45 years old who experience distressing self-focused thoughts in social situations about what others are thinking of them and how they look.
The I-FOCUS study aims to help individuals with significant social fears and distress about their appearance by providing specialized skills to reduce symptoms like fear and anxiety, repetitive mirror checking, and avoidance of social situations.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a first-line psychological treatment that helps people learn strategies to combat unwanted thoughts and behaviors. CBT will be delivered by advanced PhD students at the University of Washington (UW) who are trained through the UW CALM Clinic for Anxiety, Traumatic Stress, and Obsessive-Compulsive Related Disorders.
